Transient Man in Jail Faces 12 Felony Charges

Lamprey Drive

UNION CITY – A 44-year-old transient man was booked on April 3 for vehicle theft and receiving stolen property, in addition to charges levied against him when he was initially picked up by police on March 31—for felony vandalism and outstanding warrants for possession of an arson device and other charges.

Anthony T. La was apprehended by police dispatched to the 31000 block of Lamprey Drive, where they found several vehicles with smashed windows at 2:15 a.m. on March 31. A bystander directed officers to the suspect who tried to run away, but police set up a perimeter and he was caught nearby.

La faces revocation of probation and a dozen felony charges, which include possession of a controlled substance, use of bomb to destroy property, and making criminal threats. He remains in custody at Santa Rita Jail, pending a court appearance scheduled for April 5 at the Hayward Hall of Justice.
