Traffic Stop in Castroville Leads to Arrest for Loaded and Concealed Firearm
CASTROVILLE, CA — “A Monterey County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was patrolling the community of Castroville on Thursday, November 20th, at about 11:40 PM. The deputy’s attention was drawn to a vehicle that drifted into the oncoming lane of traffic and nearly collided with another vehicle.
The deputy conducted a traffic enforcement stop on the vehicle and contacted 21-year-old Mohanad Khaled Mohammed Nasr of Salinas. During the contact, alert deputies noticed a knife on Nasr lap. Once Nasr was safely out of the vehicle, one of the deputies saw the barrel of a firearm sticking out from underneath the driver seat. The deputy was able to retrieve a loaded handgun from underneath the seat.
Nasr was arrested without incident and transported to the Monterey County Jail where he was booked for violation of 25400(a)(1) CVC, Carrying a Loaded and Concealed Firearm in a Vehicle and other charges.”
