“After spending some time at the Kidde Kaper parade, VSTF and K9 Oakley continued on the “different era firearms out of the hands of criminals” tour.

Officers stopped Josue Velez (23) in the area of Sanborn Rd and Alisal St, for running a stop sign. Velez was extremely nervous when talking to Officers and told them that his license was suspended. When Officers asked Velez to step out of the vehicle, he quickly realized his pants weren’t tight enough, and a sawed off .410 shotgun fell out of his waistband on to the ground.

K9 Officer Oakley at the scene

Once Velez was in handcuffs for his extremely poor decision, K9 Oakley of course had to test out his super [nose emoji] and conducted a sniff of the vehicle. Oakley located a .32 caliber semi auto handgun under the drivers seat and you guessed it neither firearm was registered.

Officers then went back to Velez’s residence and conducted a search of his room locating 100 fetanyl pills. Velez was transported to Monterey County Jail where he was lodged on numerous weapon/ narcotics charges and given pants that fit him.”
