CHICO –On the afternoon of October 19th a transient was reported urinating on the outside wall of the Tower Mart at 110 E. Park Avenue.

When an officer with the Chico Police Department arrived, 42-year-old Marcus Atunez was “lying on the grass with open containers of alcohol.”

The uncooperative Atunez stood up in what was interpreted as an effort to confront the officer. His fighting stance, verbal threats and thrown punches confirmed that possibility.

Since he did not obey verbal commands, the suspect was then “taken to the ground and arrested.” However, that didn’t stop him as he continued his fight, biting an officer on the leg.

Atunez was arrested for two counts of resisting by violence, two counts of battery on a police officer and one count of vandalism. He was booked at the Butte County Jail.
