Attempted carjacker stabs man, punches woman

This press release was issued on the Chico Police Departments official Facebook page –

Chico, CA – “On 1/10/20, at 5:33 p.m., the Chico Police Department’s Dispatch Center received a 911 call of a stabbing which had just occurred at the 2900 block of Burnap Avenue in Chico.

The suspect, described as a white male with multiple tattoos, was last seen fleeing the area on foot southbound on Burnap Avenue. Officers arrived and found a male victim with a non-life threatening stab wound to his lower torso. He was transported to Enloe Hospital for treatment.

Medics, staging nearby, reported seeing a man matching the suspect description running on the bike path westbound from Burnap Avenue.

Officers flooded the area and soon heard the sound of a woman screaming. A woman drove up to the officers and reported a man, matching the stabbing suspect’s description, had just punched her as she sat in her vehicle.

She managed to get away from the suspect in her vehicle without being injured further or her vehicle being taken from her. The suspect was found hiding in the back yard of a nearby residence. He was positively identified as the suspect of the attempted carjacking.

The suspect was identified as 26 year old William Castor of Chico. He was found to be on Post Release Community Supervision through Butte County Probation. Castor was arrested for attempted carjacking. The investigation is still ongoing related to the Assault with a deadly weapon incident.

Castor is currently being held in the Butte County Jail on $100,000 bond.”
