Butte County Man Arrested after Allegedly Being Caught with Stolen Mail, Credit Cards
A Butte County man was recently arrested on felony charges for the alleged possession of stolen identity information and stolen property.
According to a press release, a Butte County Sheriff’s Office sergeant conducted extra patrol duty in the area of Marian Avenue and Diamond Avenue in Chico, responding to recent reports of thefts in the area, in the early hours of October 10.
During the patrol, the sergeant observed an individual, later identified as 33-year-old Jared Brun of Chico, walking with a bicycle and carrying a backpack and flashlight. Dispatch also confirmed that Brun was on court probation.
The sergeant contacted Brun and conducted a probation search, which reportedly led to the discovery of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in Brun’s possession. A search of Brun’s person and backpack allegedly turned up pieces of mail belonging to at least 14 different individuals, along with credit cards from at least seven different people.
The sergeant also uncovered additional stolen property in Brun’s possession, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Brun was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of personal identifying information of ten or more people, felony possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, and a violation of his probation.
