Butte County Sheriff’s Office investigating Christmas Day shooting in Oroville

OROVILLE // The County Sheriff is investigating a Christmas Day shooting which occurred in the area of Foothill Mobile Home Park.
At around 8 PM, the Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of shots fired, only to discover 26-year-old Salvador Fuentes of Oroville lying in the street in front of a residence at the Park, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Investigations Unit is formally investigating Fuentes’s death as a homicide, and is currently working to determine a motive. Detectives believe the victim and his assailant may have known each other, although a suspect has yet to be positively identified.
