Suspect Apprehended in Paso Robles Following Grover Beach Bank Robbery
GROVER BEACH, CA — Law enforcement officers arrested a 67-year-old man on robbery and burglary charges shortly after a financial institution was robbed Monday afternoon.
The Grover Beach Police Department dispatched officers to the Wells Fargo Bank at 1580 W. Grand Avenue at approximately 12:01 p.m. on Monday, September 14, 2026. Responding personnel arrived at the scene within three minutes. Investigators determined that a male suspect handed a teller a note announcing the robbery before exiting through the building’s east doors on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. No weapons were observed during the incident.
Utilizing local closed-circuit television footage and automated license plate readers, police identified the suspect and his vehicle shortly after the event. Authorities broadcasted a regional alert to area law enforcement. At roughly 12:51 p.m., a deputy with the San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s Office spotted the vehicle near Highway 101 and Highway 46 in Paso Robles, taking the driver into custody following a high-risk traffic stop.
Officials identified the suspect as Brent David Muir, a resident of Bakersfield. He was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail. The Grover Beach Police Department received assistance during the response and investigation from the Arroyo Grande Police Department, the San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s Office, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
