Felony DV Suspect Arrested after Hours-Long Armed Standoff

“On Thursday morning, just before 11 a.m.,  Sacramento Sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic violence incident on the 4300 block of McRoberts Drive in Mather.

The suspect, 64-year-old Rickey Hayashida reportedly fired a shot, but the victim was fortunately uninjured and was safely with deputies shortly after they arrived. Hayashida barricaded himself inside his backyard, then inside his residence, beginning an hours long standoff.

Sheriff’s personnel deployed the Bearcat armored vehicle, drones, and other vital “military equipment” to contain the suspect. The Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Detail (SWAT Team) also responded to the scene.

Just before 3 p.m., after repeated threats to shoot law enforcement and himself, the SWAT Team deployed gas inside the home, and Hayashida almost immediately surrendered peacefully. He was arrested and transported to the Sacramento County Main Jail, where he is being held on $100,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on February 17.”
