“At approximately 1:15 PM on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputies assigned to North Patrol responded to a residence on Georgia Drive in North Highlands regarding a fight involving 30 people and possible shots fired. Upon their arrival, they contacted several individuals who indicated a male was shot but had been transported to the hospital by family members or friends.

Shortly thereafter, Deputies learned that the victim, described as a 33-year-old adult male, had been transported to a local hospital with a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital a short time later.

Sheriff’s Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene, interviewed witnesses, and gathered evidence. Based on their investigation, Detectives determined that the victim and his girlfriend were involved in an argument with her ex-boyfriend, later identified as 30-year-old Jarell Triplett, regarding child custody arrangements. During the argument, Triplett shot the victim and fled the scene.

At approximately 10 AM, Detectives from the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau located Triplett in the Sacramento area and took him into custody without incident. Triplett was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail and is ineligible for bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on December 18, 2023 at 3 PM.”
