Probationer and Parolee Arrested After Loaded Firearm Discovered During Traffic Stop
SALINAS, CA – “While on patrol in the area of East Market Street and Eucalyptus Drive, an officer observed a gray GMC Yukon commit a California Vehicle Code violation and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle.
Inside the vehicle was the driver Jose Luna (22), along with front passenger a 19 year old, and a rear passenger Mauricio Castellanos (21). A records check revealed Luna was on probation and Castellanos was on parole.
During a search of the vehicle, officers located a loaded .38 caliber Taurus revolver concealed inside a plastic panel beneath the center console.
Luna was charged with the firearm and Castellanos was arrested on the parole violation both were transported to the Monterey County Jail where they were lodged.”
