Suspicious Person Arrested at Happy Park in Yuba City

YUBA CITY, CA  — “On the morning of Tuesday, September 2, 2025, Sutter County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a suspicious person in the area of Happy Park in Yuba City. The caller reported a man wearing a face mask and possibly canvassing the neighborhood.

Once on scene, deputies contacted 45-year-old Michael Hesse of San Francisco. During the encounter, deputies observed what appeared to be a concealed weapon under Hesse’s shirt. A pat-down search revealed a fixed-blade dirk or dagger and a pellet gun.

Further search of Hesse’s belongings uncovered several pairs of gloves, a face mask, a wig, a hammer, multiple flashlights, and identification not belonging to him. A records check revealed several prior theft and forgery convictions for Hesse.

Hesse was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Sutter County Jail on burglary and identity theft-related charges, as well as charges for being a convicted felon in possession of the above-mentioned weapons.”
