SAN RAFAEL, CA — Marin County Sheriff’s Office detectives investigated the theft of a $15,265
check and recently arrested Rhod J. Robles, 19 of Daly City.
Robles allegedly stole the check from the Marin County Office of Education and deposited it.
The Marin County Treasurer’s Office reported the check was stolen from the mail on June 7.
Soon thereafter, it was deposited at a Chase Bank account in San Francisco.
“The check was quickly flagged as fraudulent by Chase Bank,” according to a prepared
statement from the Marin County Sheriff’s Office. “The treasurer’s office recouped the full
amount of the check.”
Chase Bank removed the funds from the account, before anyone could withdraw money from
the account. “After a thorough investigation, it was determined that Robles is the suspect who
deposited the check.”
On August 28, detectives from the sheriff’s office served arrest and search warrants at
Robles’ residence.
Detectives placed Robles under arrest without further incident. In addition,
detectives recovered evidence implicating Robles in the theft of the check.
Robles was transported and booked at Marin County Jail.
He was booked on suspicion of burglary, grand theft, and uttering a fictitious check. However, Robles has since been
released from custody.
The case against Robles and any potential charges are reviewed by the Marin County District
Attorney’s Office.
