The Salinas Police Department arrested a 19-year-old man as he drove under the influence and thereafter caused mischief –
“Today (June 30) at about 11:18AM, officers were dispatched to the 7-11 Gas Station at the corner of Natividad Rd. and Boronda Rd. for a Jeep Cherokee that had struck a car and continued to drive around the parking lot erratically. Officers arrived and tried to get the driver to stop but he failed to listen to commands.
A short pursuit began and came to a quick end after a PIT maneuver successfully stopped the Jeep. The driver fled on foot but was taken into custody with the assistant from K9 Avi.
The driver (19) was charged with DUI-drugs, hit and run, resisting arrest, vehicle pursuit and being unlicensed.
Thank you to the community who called 9-1-1 and provided us with the useful information to help capture the driver.”
