FREMONT — A jailbird is behind bars again and this time bond for his release is set at $75,000. This perpetual troublemaker has been arrested 15 times in five years, including twice this month on suspicion of arson.

On June 14, Abdulfatah I. Idris, 39 of Oakland, was arrested for allegedly setting three fires on Mowry Avenue in Fremont. Nevertheless, he was released from custody shortly afterward.

Four days later, Idris was arrested again on June 18 on suspicion of committing two more crimes. Witnesses reported seeing him on June 17 at 3:30 a.m. setting more fires, near Interstate 680 and Mission Boulevard in Fremont.

Fremont Police said in a prepared statement. “Officers also learned that Idris was involved in felony vandalism earlier the same day.” He is suspected of smashing a window at the Fremont Hub shopping center with a rock.

Idris was booked into Santa Rita Jail once again. For his most recent actions, Idris is scheduled for arraignment this week on four charges –

PC 11377(A)(1) Possession of Controlled Substance
PC 11364.1 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
PC 594(A) (1) Vandalism: Paint

Idris has numerous prior arrests involving illicit drugs and exhibiting deadly weapons. He also has previous arrests for battery, public intoxication, and vandalism.

At the time of his most recent arrests, Idris was on probation for making criminal threats for a conviction in 2017.
