MADERA – On May 13th shortly after 4 p.m. a male suspect shoplifted merchandise from a store and then threatened to kill the employee who confronted him.
A deputy arrived to the store in the 37000 block of Avenue 12 and found that a customer had the suspect detained at gunpoint outside of the store.
31-year-old Fresno resident Nathaniel Chappell was detained and then arrested. Other arriving deputies found a basket that was filled with items stolen from the store.
In addition, Chappell was driving a car that had been “stolen out of Fresno earlier that same day.”
Chappell faces multiple charges of strong arm robbery, theft of a vehicle and stolen property.
