“On February 16, 2022 Chico Police Officers responded to a reported vehicle burglary in progress in the 200 block of E. Shasta Ave. A total of 13 vehicles were found to have been burglarized in the area, and an associated stolen vehicle was abandoned by the suspect after crashing into several parked vehicles.

The suspect was not apprehended at that time. During the investigation, Officers with the CPD Patrol Division were able to identify the suspect responsible for the burglaries and the stolen vehicle as Cody Alan Miller (5/26/93) of Chico. On February 22, 2022 at approximately 0120 hrs.

CPD Dispatch received a call from a citizen reporting an in progress vehicle burglary in the 400 block of Hazel St. Officers responded and located Miller in the vicinity of the burglarized vehicle. Miller matched the description of the burglar and was found in possession of stolen property from the vehicle.

Miller was arrested for 459 PC (Vehicle Burglary) for this morning’s incident, and for the incident that occurred on 2/16/22 for the following charges, Vehicle Burglary, Vehicle Theft, Hit and Run and Resisting an Officer. Miller was eventually transported to the Butte County Jail for booking.

ORIGINAL RELEASE: Date: February 16, 2022 Case #22-0970 Chico, CA – On February 16, 2022, at about 0004 hours, officers responded to an apartment complex in the 200 block of E Shasta Ave on a report of a vehicle burglary. Upon officers’ arrival, they attempted to contact a subject in a vehicle, matching the description provided by the caller. The subject ignored officers and fled by driving through the parking lot. As the suspect fled, his vehicle collided with 3 other vehicles and a community dumpster, disabling his vehicle. The suspect then fled on foot. Many officers responded to assist, however, the suspect was already out of the area. During the subsequent investigation, officers learned the vehicle the suspect was driving was reported stolen earlier this week. Officers also learned a total of 10 vehicles were burglarized. At this time, the investigation is ongoing with officers following up on potential leads. We are asking anyone with information, and/or video surveillance, to contact the Chico Police Department.”
