DUI Suspect Allegedly Caught with Narcotics, Ghost Gun During Traffic Stop in Butte County

OROVILLE, CA  —  “On 04/16/2025, at approximately 0005 hours, the Oroville CHP Graveyard unit conducted a traffic stop on a black Kia Optima traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on SR-162 near Arbol Avenue. The officers contacted the driver, and a DMV check confirmed the driver had a suspended license for a prior DUI and was currently on probation for the same violation. A DUI evaluation was completed, and the Officers determined the driver was driving while under the influence of alcohol.

After the driver was placed under arrest, a search of the Kia was completed. Officers discovered two loaded pistols in the center console, one polymer “ghost gun” and an additional pistol which returned stolen. Further investigation revealed several types of illicit drugs including, methamphetamine, cocaine, MDMA (ecstasy), fentanyl, mushrooms, concentrated cannabis, and miscellaneous prescription medications. Also located were multiple digital scales and various packaging used for illicit drug sales.

The driver was subsequently arrested for driving under influence of alcohol and possession and transportation of drugs for sale, possession of a “ghost gun”, and possession of a stolen firearm.”
