Hanford Police Arrest Suspect in Hit-and-Run Death of Ronald Torres, 70

HANFORD, CA — October 25, 2026 — “Today, members of the Hanford Police Department continued their investigation into the October 25, 2026, fatal hit-and-run collision that claimed the life of 70-year-old Ronald Torres.

During the investigation, detectives and Traffic Unit investigators conducted an extensive neighborhood canvass for surveillance footage and potential witnesses. Investigators located surveillance footage showing the suspect vehicle leaving the area prior to the collision and returning minutes after the collision occurred.

The investigation led officers to a residence in the 2000 block of Harrison Avenue. After speaking with occupants at the residence, investigators identified the unlicensed driver as 26-year-old Bryan Antonio Gomez.

Investigators later located Gomez at his place of employment near Highway 43 and Lansing Avenue. Following an interview, Gomez was placed under arrest.

Gomez also directed investigators to a residence in Armona, California, where the suspected vehicle, a 2007 Toyota RAV4, was located. The vehicle had damage consistent with the collision.

Gomez was subsequently booked into the Kings County Jail on the following charges:

  • CVC 20001(b)(2) – Felony Hit-and-Run Resulting in Death
  • PC 192(c)(2) – Vehicular Manslaughter
