Unlicensed Driver Arrested for a Fatal Hit-and-Run on I-580

OAKLAND, CA — California Highway Patrol officers arrested a 33-year-old Oakland
man for a fatal hit-and-run run collision on I-580.

Tielee S. Wilson (alias Tielee Phillips) was booked at Alameda County Santa Rita Jail on October 20.
A homeless man walking along Interstate 580, east of 167th Avenue was struck
by two vehicles on February 5, 2024. It happened in Ashland, near the San
Leandro city limits. The 26-year-old victim Miles Harbin was pronounced dead at
the scene.

The driver of the first vehicle stopped and called emergency responders, and
cooperated with law enforcement at the scene. The second driver later identified
as Wilson fled on foot before responding officers arrived. After nearly three
years he has been arrested.

“Officers located the suspect in Oakland and took him into custody without
incident,” according to a CHP prepared statement. “A concealed, loaded
semiautomatic firearm was found in the suspect’s possession.”
Wilson is charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing death, and
being an unlicensed driver. Plus, four firearm-related charges are filed against
him for –

· Carrying a concealed firearm
· Carrying a concealed firearm with ammunition
· Carrying a loaded firearm in public
· Carrying an unregistered concealed loaded firearm

“Accountability does not diminish with time,” said Steve Ramos, CHP Golden
Gate Division Chief. “This arrest reflects the persistence of our investigators,
and strength of our partnerships with local law enforcement agencies.”
