Authorities in the Bay Area have announced the arrest of a man who now faces seven felony counts in connection to alleged sex crimes and battery on a peace officer.

According to a press release by the Fremont Police Department, 47-year-old Lloyd Grant is facing several charges in connection with a bizarre incident at a local business in early June. Grant already had a prior conviction for indecent exposure, which required him to register as a sex offender, police said.

On the afternoon of June 10, police were called to a local business to investigate reports that a nude man was soliciting employees and customers for sexual acts. The man then allegedly sexually battered one of the customers, and demanded that the customer perform a sex act on him.

Officers arrived at the location and attempted to take the man, later identified as Grant, into custody, but Grant allegedly did not cooperate and began fighting with officers. At one point, Grant allegedly tried to remove an officer’s firearm from its holster.

Officers were eventually to take Grant into custody without further incident. Three days later, on June 13, the case was presented to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office for review.

The District Attorney made the decision to charge grant with seven felony counts and one misdemeanor. The charges reportedly include attempted oral copulation by force or duress, indecent exposure with a prior, sexual battery, attempting to remove a firearm from a peace officer, resisting an executive officer by threat or violence, and battery upon a peace officer.

A preliminary hearing for Grant was held on June 27, and he remains in custody at the Santa Rita jail.

Anyone who may have been a victim of a crime involving Grant, or with information relevant to the investigation, is encouraged to reach out to the Fremont Police Department Investigations Unit at 510-790-6900.
