Sacramento Man Gets 18 Years in Prison for Multiple Sexual Assaults in Butte County
BUTTE COUNTY, CA — “A Sacramento man was sentenced to 18 years in state prison at the Butte County Superior Court today after pleading no contest earlier this year to multiple forcible sexual assaults against two victims in Butte County.
Hasan Alshammari, 23, was arrested by the Butte County Sheriff’s detectives in March 2026, following a series of sexual assaults that the detectives traced back to Alshammari.
In February 2026, a 17-year-old victim reported that an unknown male had taken her to a remote location in Butte County, where he forcibly sexually assaulted her and then left her alone and unclothed after driving off with all her belongings. The minor was able to reach a home and call for assistance. Sheriff’s detectives began investigating the incident to try to find the suspect.
On March 4, 2026, another 17-year-old victim reported that a male matching the description of the February suspect had transported her from Sacramento, sexually assaulted her, and then left her alone and unclothed in a remote area of Butte County after driving off with all her belongings. Detectives identified Alshammari as the suspect in both incidents, and he was arrested on March 5, 2026, during a search warrant at his home in Sacramento. During the search, detectives located evidence related to both assaults.
Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey said charges were filed against Alshammari in March 2026 related to both incidents. In July 2026, Alshammari pled no contest to two forcible sexual assault charges, one related to each victim.
At today’s sentencing hearing, the mother of one of the victims delivered an impact statement detailing the incident’s negative effects on her daughter and its lasting impact. The prosecutor urged the judge to impose the maximum term allowed by law, citing the predatory nature of the conduct, the victims’ vulnerability, and the fact that Alshammari would essentially dump the victims unclothed and helpless in rural areas.
Judge Michael Deems noted that under the law, he could consider a lower term due to Alshammari’s youth and lack of prior criminal history. However, the judge determined that, given the criminal sophistication Alshammari displayed and the violence and callousness with which the crimes were committed, the maximum term of 18 years was appropriate.”
