Chico K-9 officer leads police to coffee shop burglary suspect

Chico police have announced the arrest of a man on suspicion of burglarizing a local coffee shop.

Around 4 AM on March 16, police responded to the Dutch Bros. coffee shop on Park Avenue to investigate a reported burglary. Officers found the front window broken, and located a hammer and several stolen items stashed in the bushes outside, police said.

K-9 Officer Pyro was brought in for assistance and, after sniffing the items, led officers to a nearby hotel and 29-year-old Antonio Sandoval. Police say Sandoval was getting into a moving car and about to flee when they caught up to him.

Officers detained Sandoval and not only discovered he had an active warrant, but also found additional evidence connecting him to the burglary at Dutch Bros., police said.

Sandoval was ultimately arrested and booked at the Butte County Jail on suspicion of burglary.
