Chico Police Respond to Reports of Altercation Involving Multiple Juveniles, Make One Arrest
CHICO, CA — “Shortly before midnight on July 6, 2026, the Chico Police Department received an emergency call reporting a physical altercation, possibly domestic violence, in progress at an apartment complex in the 1500 block of Springfield Dr. During the 9-1-1 call, Dispatchers could hear a loud verbal argument in the background. Officers responded to the scene Code 3 (lights and sirens) and located three females (2 juveniles and 1 adult) yelling at one another. Another involved person, an unknown male, was reported to have fled the scene prior to their arrival. After interviewing the parties and other witnesses, Officers were unable to determine whether a physical altercation had in fact occurred. The individuals involved were separated and counseled.
Approximately an hour later, around 1:09am on July 7, Dispatchers received a call reporting the same juveniles fighting outside of the residence. While Officers were enroute, it was reported the male and one of the females were hitting each other in the face, possibly with rocks. The female, believed to have a knife on her person, then threatened to stab the male. When the first Officer arrived on scene, they observed one female chasing the other on foot, then begin to engage in a physical fight. The Officer was able to separate the two and detain the primary aggressor until a second unit arrived. At that time, Officers noted the victim had sustained a head injury, prompting a request for medical personnel to respond to the scene Code 3. Additional Officers searched the area for the male who had fled.
The suspect continued to actively resist orders and attempted to flee on several occasions. After being placed under arrest, Officers attempted to place her into a patrol vehicle, where she used her legs to kick against the door to avoid being secured inside. She was eventually taken safely into custody and transported to Butte County Juvenile Hall.
The following charges will be forwarded to Butte County Probation for review; based on their recommendation, charges may be filed with the Butte County District Attorney’s Office.
