Motorist Reportedly Caught with Bags of Methamphetamine During Traffic Stop in Oroville
OROVILLE, CA — “On September 6, 2026, at approximately 12:54 a.m., a Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) deputy conducted a traffic stop in the area of Ophir Road and Commercial Avenue in Oroville after observing vehicle code violations.
During the stop, the driver was identified as Bruce Watson, age 36 of Oroville, who was found to be driving on a suspended license.
During the investigation, deputies located drug paraphernalia on Watson’s person and, after a search of the vehicle, found four separate bags containing suspected methamphetamine. The four bags had gross weights of approximately 29.17 grams, 26.07 grams, 29.24 grams, and 29.17 grams.
Based on the totality of the circumstances, Watson was arrested and booked into the Butte County Jail on the following charges:
- 11378 H&S — Possession of a controlled substance for sale
- 11379(a) H&S — Transportation of a controlled substance
- 11364(a) H&S — Possession of unlawful paraphernalia
- 14601.2(a) CVC — Driving with a suspended license for DUI”
