San Joaquin County Man Arraigned in Court on Felony CSAM Charges

SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, CA — A Stockton man was arraigned in court on felony CSAM charges earlier this week, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

In a press release, the District Attorney’s Office reported that, on Tuesday, Oct. 6, defendant Nickolas Turpin-Arends, 40, was arraigned in San Joaquin County Superior Court on charges of possession of matter depicting sexual conduct of person under 18, possessio of over 600 obscene images of a minor in a sexual act, and distribution of matter depicting child in sexual conduct.

All three charges are felonies and Turpin-Arends faces one count each.

In the media release, District Attorney Ron Freitas commented, “As a former Lodi School Board Member, it is deeply infuriating whenever the safety and innocence of children are threatened, and allegations of child sexual abuse material hit at the very core of what we must protect.”

Turpen-Arends’s next court date is reportedly set for 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16.

“My office will always stand firm in our mission to protect kids and hold those who possess or distribute this kind of material accountable,” Freitas said.
