Marina Police Arrest Driver Found with Loaded Unregistered Rifle and Narcotics
MARINA, CA – A suspicious vehicle check conducted by Marina Police Department officers Friday evening led to the arrest of a driver on multiple weapons and drug offenses.
On September 18, 2026, at approximately 7:45 p.m., officers on routine patrol near Fourth Avenue and 12th Street spotted a vehicle parked in a clearly designated “No Trespassing” area. Officers approached the automobile and initiated contact with the sole occupant, identified as Jesus Barajas.
During the contact, officers observed the barrel of a rifle protruding from the rear seat area. Officers safely removed Barajas from the vehicle and detained him without further incident.
A subsequent inspection revealed that the rifle was loaded and unregistered. A comprehensive search of the vehicle yielded several boxes of ammunition, quantities of methamphetamine, and multiple drug paraphernalia pipes.

Officers arrested Barajas and booked him into the Monterey County Jail on the following charges:
Health and Safety Code 11370.1: Possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded firearm
Penal Code 25850(c)(6): Carrying a loaded firearm without being the registered owner
Penal Code 25400(a): Carrying a concealed weapon inside a vehicle
Health and Safety Code 11377(a): Possession of a controlled substance
Health and Safety Code 11364(a): Possession of drug paraphernalia
