MONTEREY, CA — Police arrested a 41-year-old man on multiple felony charges after he allegedly held a woman against her will inside her home for several hours early Sunday morning.
Officers with the Monterey Police Department responded to the Skyline Crest neighborhood at approximately 1:30 a.m. on September 13, 2026, following a report of an unlawful restraint. Upon arrival, officers detained Mychael Henderson outside the residence without incident. Paramedics evaluated the victim at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators established that Henderson and the victim were acquaintances and that Henderson had recently expressed unreciprocated romantic interest toward her. According to authorities, Henderson waited for the victim outside her home on the evening of September 12. When she arrived at roughly 9:30 p.m., Henderson assaulted her, forced entry into the residence, and took her mobile phone.
Authorities stated Henderson held the victim inside for hours and threatened sexual assault, though no sexual assault occurred. The victim convinced Henderson to let her contact a friend, who then notified law enforcement. Upon searching Henderson during the arrest, officers located a bag containing a knife, physical restraints, and other items intended to facilitate the offenses.
Henderson was booked into the Monterey County Jail without bail. He faces charges including kidnapping, false imprisonment, stalking, robbery, burglary, and assault with intent to commit rape under the California Penal Code.
