Anaheim Police Arrest Suspect in La Reina Market Commercial Burglary Case
ANAHEIM, CA — Investigators with the Anaheim Police Department have arrested 34-year-old Makatapu Paea in connection with an August 11 commercial burglary at La Reina Market on N. East Street.
According to authorities, surveillance video captured two individuals inside the business during the incident. After law enforcement publicly released the footage and circulated it across social media platforms, community members submitted tips that led Criminal Investigations Division Detectives to identify Paea as one of the individuals involved.
Detectives conducted follow-up investigations to corroborate Paea’s identity before locating and taking him into custody on August 21. During a subsequent interview with investigators, Paea acknowledged that he was depicted in the surveillance video and admitted to stealing currency from the establishment.
