Traffic Stop of U-Haul Van Reveals Stolen Police Gear, Loaded Firearm, and Outstanding Warrants
GARDEN GROVE, CA — Officers on the day shift recently conducted a traffic stop on a U-Haul cargo van for vehicle code violations. During the course of the investigation, officers determined that the driver had an outstanding no-bail felony warrant.
The front and rear passengers initially provided false names to law enforcement. Upon positive identification, officers learned that both passengers also had active no-bail felony warrants and were currently on probation.
A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a loaded firearm. Officers also recovered stolen law enforcement equipment from inside the van, which included a department-issued jacket and a Sam Browne duty belt. All three occupants were taken into custody in connection with the outstanding warrants and findings from the search.
