Orange Resident Arrested for Attempted Sexual Assault and Weapon Charges Following Bystander Intervention
ORANGE, CA – Police arrested a 23-year-old Orange resident on Monday, May 18, 2026, following a bystander intervention during a reported assault in the 130 block of North Lemon Street.
Patrol officers responded to a report of a suspicious subject at approximately 10:40 a.m. A caller stated they witnessed a male bothering a female, who mouthed “Help me” as the caller walked past. The caller intervened in the encounter, causing the male to walk away from the scene. The female subsequently drove to the Orange Police Department to formally report the incident.
Officers located the suspect, identified as Carlos Villalovos Munos, near the scene and initially placed him under arrest for possession of narcotics.
The subsequent investigation revealed that Munos had attempted to pull the victim out of her vehicle, brandished a knife, and stated he wanted sex. Investigators noted that the intervention of the caller halted the incident. Orange Police Department detectives reviewed area surveillance footage, which confirmed the victim’s account and showed the location where Munos had disposed of the knife.
Munos was transported and booked into the Orange County Jail. He faces multiple charges, including attempted rape, assault with intent to commit a sexual offense, narcotics violations, and brandishing a weapon.
