Madera County Authorities Arrest Suspect in Alleged Domestic Violence-Related Homicide
MADERA, CA — Madera County deputies have arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting near Avenue 18½ and Golden State Boulevard.
According to a press release by the Madera County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded on Sunday, Aug. 30, to reports of a shooting in the area.
Responding deputies located a woman who had been shot multiple times. EMS personnel also responded to the scene to begin life-saving measures. The victim was transported to an area hospital, where she was utimately pronounced deceased.
Witness reportedly told investigators that they’d seen the suspect flee along SR-99 in a white SUV resembling a RAV4. The suspect was identified as 51-year-old David Moreno.
Later, while checking a possible address associated with the suspect, investigators reportedly saw Moreno leave in the same vehicle.
With assistance from the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, authorities pulled over Moreno’s vehicle and took him into custody without incident, according to the Madera County Sheriff’s Office.
While the investigation is still in its early stages, Madera County detectives have reportedly determined this to be a domestic violence-related incident.
