Templeton Resident Sentenced to Probation and Jail Time in Neighbor Harassment Case

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, CA — David Allen Leader, 71, of Templeton, was sentenced to two years of supervised probation and 30 days in county jail following a neighbor harassment case in San Luis Obispo County Superior Court.

As part of the sentencing conditions, Leader was ordered to maintain a stay-away order regarding the victims involved. The victims attended the court proceeding and delivered victim impact statements under the protections of the California Constitution Crime Victims’ Bill of Rights, commonly known as Marsy’s Rights.

In July 2026, Leader pled guilty to one felony count of vandalism and seven misdemeanor counts of disobeying a court order. The plea agreement resolved two consolidated criminal cases involving a pattern of vandalism, harassment, and repeated violations of a civil harassment restraining order directed at multiple neighbors in the Templeton area.

A restitution hearing in the case is scheduled for November 4, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. in Department 7 of the San Luis Obispo County Superior Court, with the Honorable Rita Federman presiding.
