Reports of Gunfire Lead to Attempted Murder Investigation in Colton

COLTON, CA — “On Thursday, July 23, 2026, at approximately 8:57 a.m., officers from the Colton Police Department responded to the 1400 block of Bordwell Avenue in the City of Colton following reports of gunfire and a female screaming. Upon arrival, officers located an adult female suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and an adult male suffering from a single gunshot wound to the head. Officers immediately began lifesaving measures until emergency medical personnel arrived. The suspect and victim were transported to local trauma centers. The victim remains in critical but stable condition, while the male suspect, identified as Kenneth McCovery, sustained life-threatening injuries.

Detectives responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. Based on the preliminary investigation, this appears to be an isolated incident involving individuals in a personal relationship.
