SAN BERNARDINO – A 60-year-old man suspected of a sexual assault on a 13-year-old girl on Dec. 29 is still on the loose, said police, who are requesting the public’s help in locating him. Michael Ray White has apparently been spotted in various Inland area communities, including Redlands, Loma Linda, Covina, San Bernardino and Upland, police said in a news release on Wednesday.
Investigators believe White met a Lancaster girl on a social networking site, brought her to a San Bernardino motel room and sexually assaulted her several times. Capt. Gwendolyn Waters said police have obtained a $1 million warrant for White’s arrest. She said the possibility of White continuing to prey on other underage victims was added incentive to getting him into custody.
“He is accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting her,” said Waters, “after meeting her on a social networking site.”
Police released the description of his vehicle, a 2011 white, four-door Kia (license number 6NES021). Waters said White is believed to be staying in motels or living on the streets.
One report said that White was spotted at the Jerry Pettis Veteran’s Hospital in Loma Linda, a community located next to San Bernardino. “We are also seeking information on other potential victims of White,” said Waters.
Police said that White picked up the girl in Lancaster and brought her to a motel in the 700 block of West Sixth Street. Officers found the victim in the motel room, but White had fled, said Sgt. Mike Madden. In a release, White is described at 5-feet, 8-inches tall, 150 pounds with long blond hair that he wears in a ponytail. A tattoo with the name “Dina” is on his chest. He also has a spinal disease that causes him to walk with a hunched back.
“There are many individuals out there,” said Waters, “using the internet to build relationships with juveniles who are not experienced enough to suspect malevolent intentions such as those.”
Lancaster is located 35 miles from San Bernardino. Anyone knowing the whereabouts of White is asked to call Madden or Det. Francisco Hernandez – 909-384-5715.
