Rohnert Park Man Accused of Evading Police After Alleged Domestic Disturbance
ROHNERT PARK, CA — A Rohnert Park man identified in connection with a domestic disturbance report was later arrested for allegedly fleeing from police.
According to a press release by the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety, officers responded to a home on the 6000 block of Country Club Dr. just after 12 a.m. on Sat., June 27, to investigate a report of a domestic disturbance involving an individual identified as Alfredo Brito.
The reporting party stated that Brito had left the residence after a “physical altercation” with his wife, and had been armed when he left. A convicted felon, Brito is legally prohibited from possessing firearms, authorities said.
Patrol officers responded to the scene to begin an investigation, but were unable to locate Brito. Officers reportedly discovered via the Flock Automatic License Plate Recognition system that Brito had left Sonoma County.
At one point, officers reportedly managed to contact Brito by telephone, during which he allegedly stated he was “ready to die tonight.”
Just after 1 a.m., officers were notified that Brito had returned to Rohnert Park. A patrol sergeant located Brito driving on the 6000 block of Country Club Dr. and tried to pull him over, but Brito allegedly fled, initiating a pursuit.
The pursuit continued through residential streets, onto the Rohnert Park Expressway, and ended on San Simeon Drive. There, Brito reportedly stopped the vehicle and was taken into custody without further incident.
Brito was booked into the Sonoma County jail on suspicion of evading a peace officer with wanton disregard for safety, which is classified as a felony. Additional charges are pending, according to police.
