Thermal Drone Tech Leads to Arrest in Santa Cruz Residential Burglary Incident
SANTA CRUZ, CA — “Jan. 2, 2026, Santa Cruz Police Officers were dispatched to an interrupted burglary to a residence in the vicinity of Coulson Ave.
The suspect fled after being chased off by the caller. Officers responded, set up a perimeter, and launched the drone. The officers used the drone’s thermal sensing technology to precisely detect and locate the suspect hiding under a tarp on the side of a residence, which led to an arrest. Excellent work, team!”
