Shasta County Woman Accused of Stealing Vehicle with 4-Year-Old Inside

SHASTA COUNTY, CA — “On Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at approximately 7:44 AM, Shasta County Sheriff’s deputies were notified by SHASCOM dispatchers of a Be On the Lookout (BOLO) notification from the California Highway Patrol that a vehicle with a 4-year old juvenile inside had been stolen from in front of a business on the 12000 block of Deschutes Road, Bella Vista.

Shortly after, a CALFIRE Prevention Officer observed the vehicle near a neighboring business. The child’s parent alerted nearby citizens who assisted in stopping the vehicle on Highway 299, just west of the My-T-Fine Foods store.

Deputies responded to the location where the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Christina Marie Vallesteroes, was detained by citizens. Vallesteroes told deputies she took the vehicle, noticed and talked to the juvenile, and had decided to return the vehicle when she was stopped. Vallesteroes was determined to be under the influence of an unknown drug and taken to a local hospital for a blood draw prior to being booked into the Shasta County Jail.

Vallesteroes was arrested and booked on charges of 10851(a) VC Take Vehicle Without Owner’s Consent, 207(a) PC Kidnapping, 273A(a) PC Child Abuse with Possibility of Great Bodily Injury/Death, 23152(f) VC DUI Under the Influence of Any Drug, 23152(c) VC Addict Driving a Vehicle, 647(f) PC Disorderly Conduct: Under the Influence of Drugs, 14601.2(b) Drive on a Restricted License:DUI, and 1203.2(a) PC Violation of Probation.

Vallesteroes’ bail is set at $125,000.”
