Shasta County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Four People with Active Felony Warrants

“On Wednesday, May 1st, 2024, Detectives with the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office AB109 team and the Shasta Inter-Agency Narcotics Task Force (SINTF) located Donald Ulysses Maxwell, 56 years old, at a residence in the 33000 block of Northwoods Way, Shingletown. Maxwell was wanted by the U.S. Marshal’s Office on a felony arrest warrant for Conspiracy to Commit Murder. Maxwell was taken into custody without incident.

Detectives also located Shawn Applehans (35), Natasha Poe-Carpenter (32), and Miranda Garrett (26) on the property. Applehans and Poe Carpenter were found to be on Post Release Community Supervision, and all subjects had active felony warrants.

During a search of Maxwell and Poe-Carpenter’s trailer, 10 rifles of various calibers were located along with ammunition and methamphetamine. One of the rifles located was determined to be an illegal short-barreled rifle. All four subjects are convicted felons and prohibited from owning or possessing firearms and ammunition.

Maxwell and Applehans were booked into the Shasta County Jail for their felony warrants and fresh charges of 29800(a) PC – Felon in possession of firearms, 30305(a) PC – Felon in possession of ammunition, 11370.1(a) H&S – Possession of narcotics while armed, 33215 PC – Possession of a short barreled rifle, and 11377(a) H&S – Possession of methamphetamine.

Garrett and Poe-Carpenter were booked into the Shasta County jail for their felony warrants and fresh charges of 29800(a) PC – Felon in possession of firearms, 30305(a) PC – Felon in possession of ammunition, 11370.1(a) H&S – Possession of narcotics while armed, 33215 PC – Possession of a short-barreled rifle.”
