CARMEL, CA — The Carmel-by-the-Sea Police Department reported an arrest on Monday, December 8, 2025, in connection with an investigation into a man allegedly prowling and trespassing on private property. The initial incident prompting the inquiry reportedly occurred between 3:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. on December 6th in the area of Casanova and 9th avenues in Carmel-by-the-sea.
The suspect, identified through jail records as Alvaro Daniel Santiagolopez, 27, was apprehended at approximately 11:30 a.m. on December 8 near SE Juniperpo and 4th, Cabazon. Mr. Santiagolopez’s arrest record indicates that he is, 5’0″ in height, 120 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, and that he was booked into the Monterey County Jail following his arrest. Police identified his race as Hispanic and his occupation as construction.
Santiagolopez’s arrest record indicates that he faces potential charges of:
- 647(i) PC (Peeking in an inhabited building with loitering),
- 647(h) PC (Disorderly conduct: loitering)
- 1203.2(a) PC (Probation violation),
- 646.9(a) PC (Stalking), the latter being a felony.
The Carmel Police Department credited the collaborative efforts of multiple personnel, including Officers Ament, Montes, and De Leon, Sergeants Clifford and Maldonado, and PSO dispatchers Siebach, Iliff, and Willis, in identifying and locating the suspect. The Seaside Police Department also provided assistance in the investigation.
