FRESNO, CA — “On Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at approximately 12:39 am, Central Policing District officers responded to a location near North Fruit Avenue and West Ashlan Avenue regarding reports of gunshots in the area. As officers were responding, a second reporting reported that a gunshot victim was at the intersection of North Fruit Avenue and West Ashlan Avenue.

Responding officers located a 29-year-old male adult victim who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest and right shoulder. The victim was transported to CRMC, where he was listed in stable condition. The victim told officers he was walking with a female to a nearby location when he decided to walk through an apartment complex. As the victim and the female were walking through the complex, an unknown person yelled towards them, then fired several rounds at the victim.

Officers searched he area, and they found that a nearby apartment’s rear sliding glass door had been shattered by gunfire. Officers contacted a female at the apartment and conducted a protective sweep to confirm no additional victims were inside the location. During the protective sweep, officers did not find any additional victims, but they did find additional bullet strikes and possible blood on a couch located in the living room of the apartment. Based on the evidence officers found inside the apartment, it led them to believe the shooting took place inside the apartment and not outside, as they were originally told by the shooting victim. Officers obtained a search warrant for the apartment.

Detectives interviewed the female at the apartment and she told them that the shooting did in fact occur inside her apartment. The female told detectives that she was inside her apartment, seated at her kitchen table, with several other subjects known to her, including the victim, when she heard four gunshots inside. After the gunfire, everyone ran out of the apartment. The female told detectives she did not see who fired the rounds or if anyone had been injured.

On November 12, 2025, Felony Assault Unit Detectives contacted a witness who positively identified Suspect, 45 year old Eric Ramos as the suspect who shot the victim. Detectives authored a Ramey warrant for Ramos’ arrest for this investigation.

On November 14, 2025, at 10:12 am, the Adult Compliance Team (ACT) located Ramos entering a residence near East Nevada Avenue and North Seventh Streets. Detectives authored a Steagald warrant and a search warrant for the location.

A surround-and-call-out operation was conducted at the residence, but Ramos refused to exit. The Crisis Negotiations Team also responded, but Ramos still refused to surrender.

At approximately 4:30 pm, the Fresno Police Department’s SWAT team was deployed to the location. After an extensive standoff and the use of several diversionary devices, Ramos exited the residence and surrendered to officers Ramos was taken into custody without incident and booked into Fresno County Jail for the following charges: PC 245(a)(2)-Assault with a Deadly Weapon-Firearm, PC 246-Shooting at an Inhabited Dwelling, PC 12022.53(d)-Discharge of a Gun with Great Bodily Injury, PC 29800(a)(1)-Felon in Possession of a Firearm, PC 30305(a)(1)-Prohibited Person in Possession of Ammunition, and PC 3455-PRCS.”
