FRESNO – Fresno Police became involved in a hospital call that began when a man walked into Community Regional Medical Center, suffering from a gunshot wound to his calf.

24-year-old Andrew Kousol and his brother offered an initial story with sketchy details about the shooting. A police officer and two detectives continued their questioning until more of the truth came out.

It turns out two other men brought the duo to the hospital in a white SUV that they then left there at the site.  A search of the vehicle yielded a loaded .40 caliber pistol with blood on it, lying “in plain sight” in its cargo space.

Police located the two individuals associated with the SUV and arrested its owner, 20-year-old Arturo Garcia, for possession of heroin and meth.

By now Kousol’s brother then told more of the story, revealing that his brother had shot himself while sitting by himself in the garage of a house in the 4900 block of East Laurel Avenue.

Kousol is a self-admitted gang member who was arrested for illegally possessing a firearm as a prior convicted felon and evading a police officer.
