The Fresno Police Department has announced that they are seeking leads regarding a fatal hit-and-run that occurred last week.

Just before 4 AM on Friday, January 5, officers responded to Shields and Wilson Avenues regarding a hit-and-run collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian, police said in a press release. The victim reportedly had been crossing Shields Avenue when they were struck by a vehicle traveling westbound.

The victim was transported to an area medical center for emergency treatment, but ultimately passed away.

Collision reconstruction and hit-and-run detectives gathered evidence at the scene, and police now believe that they are looking for a two-door vehicle “similar to a Dodge Challenger.” The vehicle will likely have damage to the front end and possibly damage to the windshield, police said.

The vehicle was reportedly last seen traveling northbound on Wilson Avenue.

Anyone with information regarding this case, particularly the driver or the whereabouts of the vehicle, is encouraged to contact Detective Christopher Ames at 559-621-5065 or Detective Zack Chastain at 559-621-5058. The case number is 2401050181.
