FRESNO – Near midnight on Saturday night, 26-year-old Giovanni Herrera got the attention of a Fresno sheriff’s deputy because of his erratic driving.
The deputy pulled the GMC Yukon over and soon determined that Herrera was under the influence of alcohol.
Although he was asked to step out of his vehicle as a CHP officer was called to conduct a field sobriety test, Herrera decided to resist and push the deputy away.
Soon handcuffed, the suspect tested over the legal limit for alcohol as an operator of a motor vehicle. Inside his vehicle deputies discovered an SKS semi-automatic rifle and two magazines.
Once again we are reminded that guns, alcohol, and driving are never a good combination.
