Shooting Incident and Subsequent Ambulance Crash Shut Down East Vista Chino; Suspect Stable
PALM SPRINGS, CA – “Press Release: Shooting and Ambulance Crash on East Vista Chino; Suspect Stable
On October 27 at approximately 11:35 a.m., the Palm Springs Police Department received a request for assistance from a parole agent. The agent reported that he was in a physical altercation with an individual he was attempting to detain in the 2700 block of East Vista Chino. While officers were en route, the agent reported that a shooting had occurred.
Upon arrival, PSPD officers located the suspect suffering from a gunshot wound. The suspect was transported to a local hospital in an ambulance accompanied by a firefighter and a police officer. En route, the ambulance was involved in a vehicle collision at East Vista Chino and Sunrise Way, resulting in minor to moderate injuries to its occupants.
The suspect was ultimately transported to the hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition. The parole agent was treated at the scene for his injuries.
PSPD secured the scene, and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Force Investigation Division (FID) has responded to assume the investigation. The FID will provide a follow-up press release through the Riverside County Sheriff’s Media Information Bureau.
East Vista Chino between North Farrell Drive and North Gene Autry Trail is closed until further notice.
