RIVERSIDE – On Friday night a call came to the RPD concerning an attempted robbery at the Marriott Hotel at 3400 Market Street.
The report stated that someone came into the hotel and handed a threatening note that demanded money to the front desk clerk. The suspect had his hand in his pocket “to insinuate a weapon,” and left before he received any money.
Responding officers began a search of the area in an effort to apprehend the suspect. Near the Fox Theater they noticed an individual that matched the suspect’s description and detained him after a very brief beginning attempt to go the other way.
32-year-old Evan Spriggs was booked into jail for attempted robbery and probation violations.
