Suspect Arrested on Attempted Murder Charges Following Stabbing Incident in Porterville

On Saturday, October 11, 2025, at approximately 2:35 A.M., Porterville Police Officers were dispatched to the 1000 Block of West Grand Avenue regarding the report of a stabbing. Officers arrived on scene and discovered blood leading into a residence. Simultaneously, Porterville Police Dispatchers received a call from an area hospital that a confidential male victim had arrived at the hospital with a stab wound to his neck. Officers determined the confidential victim was involved in an altercation with Andrew Sanchez at the residence when Sanchez retrieved a knife and stabbed the victim in the neck. Sanchez fled the scene prior to Officers’ arrival and his location was unknown.
Porterville Police Detectives were summoned to the scene to assume the investigation. Detectives pursued investigative leads and determined Sanchez was in a residence in the 400 Block of West Springville Avenue. Detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence, which was endorsed by a Tulare County Superior Court Magistrate. Upon serving the search warrant, Sanchez was contacted and taken into custody without further incident. He was also found to have a felony warrant for his arrest.
Sanchez was transported and housed at the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office South County Detention Facility, where he was held in lieu of $550,000 bail.
