Kidnapping Suspects Located with GPS Technology – 3 Men Arrested

SAN RAFAEL — Three men allegedly kidnapped a woman they arranged to meet using an online dating app.

She phoned police who used GPS technology to locate and rescue her, and arrest the suspects on October 11.

Two of the suspects are San Rafael residents, Jonathan Valenzuela-Castro and Christopher A. Monteroso, both 21. The third
suspect is 24-year-old Sergio Godinez-Lopez from Vallejo. The trio remains in custody at Marin County Jail in lieu of $100,000
bond each.

The kidnapping was reported while in progress.

Officers responded shortly before 9:45 p.m. to an open space area of Robert Dollar Drive.

The woman was driven there, after she met the suspects in the Canal district.

“The victim reported three suspects were doing drugs, and one of them possessed a knife,” San Rafael police said in a
prepared statement. “The suspects initially prevented the victim from fleeing. At one point, they threatened her with a knife.”

The woman was reportedly screaming as an officer approached, and the suspects fled by vehicle. Additional officers were
dispatched, and the suspects were apprehended a few blocks away.

While being detained and during a search, Valenzeuala-Castro was found in possession of a loaded-concealed handgun,
with a high capacity magazine.

Valenzuela-Castro was booked for –
· Kidnapping
· Assault with intent to commit rape
· Carrying a loaded firearm
· Carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle
· Possession of a large capacity magazine
· Conspiracy
· Disorderly conduct
· Violation of Probation

Monteroso was booked for –
· Kidnapping,
· Assault
· Threaten with intent to terrorize
· Conspiracy
· Disorderly conduct
· Violation of probation

Godinez-Lopez was booked for –
· Kidnapping
· Conspiracy
· Possession of a controlled substance
· Disorderly conduct
