Teen Motorcyclist Arrested After High-Speed Pursuit Through Nevada and Placer Counties
GRASS VALLEY, CA — October 9th 2025 — “Yesterday afternoon, an officer observed a silver Triumph motorcycle traveling over 100 MPH on the Golden Center Freeway through Nevada City. When the officer attempted to stop the motorcycle, the rider decided to flee.
The officer initiated a pursuit, and @chp_auburn_air_unit advised they would be overhead within minutes. Although the officer briefly lost sight of the motorcycle, the helicopter quickly located it from above.
Officers made a second attempt to stop the rider on southbound Highway 49 near Crestview Drive, but once again, the rider failed to yield. The pursuit continued, with the helicopter maintaining visual contact as the motorcyclist exceeded 100 MPH, passed vehicles in opposing lanes, and ran multiple red lights while trying to escape.
The chase ended in Placer County when the rider lost control on Lone Star Road and was taken into custody.
The rider turned out to be a 17-year-old who later admitted he fled because he didn’t have a motorcycle endorsement.
In doing so, he risked countless lives—including his own—over what would have been a simple citation
Big thank you to @nevadacitypd @grassvalleypd @placer_sheriff and our best friends at @chp_auburn_air_unit.”
