Warrant Issued for Man Identified as Suspect in September 27th Hit and Run With A Pedestrian
MONTEREY, CA — ”On September 27, 2025, at approximately 10:32 P.M. Monterey Police Officers responded to a report of a hit and run, vehicle versus pedestrian collision at Del Monte Avenue and Camino El Estero. When officers arrived on scene, they determined a 17-years old juvenile pedestrian was crossing Del Monte Avenue in the crosswalk while traffic on Del Monte Avenue was stopped for a red traffic signal. When the traffic signal for Del Monte Avenue turned green, the pedestrian was still in the crosswalk and almost to the sidewalk when a sedan accelerated eastbound on Del Monte Avenue through the intersection and struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian suffered significant but not life threatening injuries and was transported to Natividad Hospital’s trauma center.
After the collision, the sedan fled the scene east bound on Del Monte Avenue and was not initially located. Upon speaking with witnesses and using Automated License Plate Reader cameras, officers identified the suspect vehicle and located it later that night parked in the 400 block of Alcalde Avenue, Monterey. The vehicle sustained damage indicating it was recently involved in a collision and was seized as evidence. The vehicle was unoccupied and the driver was not located.
The investigation determined that the driver was Emmanuel Espinosa Juarez, 44 years old of Seaside. Juarez’s current location is unknown and MPD officers have obtained a warrant for his arrest for 20001(a)CVC, felony hit and run.
This case remains under active investigation. Members of the public with any relevant information are urged to contact Lieutenant Ethan Andrews at (831) 646-3822. Anonymous tips may be submitted via (831) 646-3840.”
